Empath Survival Skills: Psychic Boundaries

As an Empath, your psychic boundaries are very important to your emotional and mental health. Your aura is your personal psychic space, and keeping it clear of unwanted intrusions and energy will help you to live an emotionally balanced life. Picking up, and carrying the emotions of others can be hard, and even make you question your own sanity at times. For any Empath, I suggest using the skills in my blogs, or other psychic skills to care for your aura daily.  I promise you, it will make  life as an Empath easier!
 Protecting your Space: Shielding
The Mirror Shield:
Visualize a mirror about two in front of you, facing away from you. Focus on this mirror until you can see it in your mind, almost feel it. Then, multiply the mirror, letting it circle around you, above you and below you. Imagine the same mirror replicating all around you until you are completely covered in mirrors.
This works well anywhere, even on a subway! 
 
Put your mirror shield up everyday before you leave the house (or in it, depending on the emotional energy of those you live with) and check it (simply close your eyes, and visualize it) a couple of times a day. If you feel, or see any gaps, cracks or holes, just repair it with new mirrors).
 
Cobalt Blue Bubble
 
Visualize a bubble of cobalt blue, purple, or gold, around your aura. See it about two feet away from your body;  above, below and around you. Visualize it intensely, knowing that nothing can penetrate your bubble. Cobalt blue, purple, and gold are all very strong spiritual colors. See the color in your bubble swirling, moving as if to beautiful music. Moving energy is the hardest for outside influence to penetrate.
 
 I encourage you to try each color, and decide which one works best for you. After a while you will be able to “feel” the difference of the colors.
 
Check your bubble periodically. Close your eyes, and visualize your shield. Repair any holes or rips you feel, or see. If you feel the need, make a new bubble. This will keep you, your energy, and your aura, well insulated.

Pulling Your Aura In
 
Your aura extends approximately one to three feet from your body, all around you. When you are uncomfortable, as if there are too many different energies around you (on a city bus) the key is to pull your aura in, closer to you.
See (or visualize) your aura extending about 1-3 feet from your body. Take a deep breath in, and as you do, pull your aura in closer to you.You can do this in only one breath. You can bring it in as close as only a few inches from your body.
 
This is an excellent skill to have when driving on a freeway, in a crowd, or around angry people. I always use this in a traffic jam! I used to have panic attacks on the freeway until I started using this technique. Now, driving the freeway is no problem.
 
When you are relaxed, again your aura will expand back to its normal shape. You do not have to worry about that part, nature will take care of things.
 
Giving Energy Back
This is a great one for dealing with ex’s!
 
When an interaction with a person effects us in a not so good way, we often (unintentionally) absorb some of their energy into aura. This simply happens through aura interaction.  Its not anyones fault, or intention.
 
This exercise is helpful after a hard reading, dealing with an ex, or anytime we cannot seem to get someone off our mind, or just do not feel “ourselves” after interacting with a certain person.
 
Find a quiet place and gather your thoughts. For this exercise you are going to assign color to your energy and one to theirs. Decide what color your energy is. The first color that comes to mind, or your favorite work will work perfectly. Next, decide what color the other persons energy is. Use the first one that comes to mind.
 
As you inhale, see your color coming back to you from the other person. As you inhale, suck it into your aura. As you exhale, see the other persons color leaving you, and going all the way back to them.
Repeat! This usually takes about 5 inhalations/exhalations, and you are done!
 
If it is someone you had a long term relationship, you may want to do this  a few times a day, until you start to feel more like “yourself again.”

Super Duper Hex Breaking Bath

Empty bathroom 

 

1 table spoon salt

1 cup apple cider vinagar

12 Eggs

 Melt salt under hot water, add vinegar, bath water.  Enter bath. Pray to Archangel Micheal to take whatever negativity you want lifted from you. Immerse whole self (including top of head) 7 times.  Carefully add eggs to water, place them around you as evenly as you can, think eggs from head to toe. Stay in water for 20 minutes. Remove Eggs carefully, but each one back in carton.(Don’t Break the Eggs!) Take the eggs to the toilet. Using your left hand,  break each egg against the side of the toilet as you throw them in, one by one. (Throw hard) Place both hands back in bath water (and anything else that may have touched an egg. Drain bath.

A much simpler version of this involves only the apple cider vinegar. The first version with the eggs, will pretty much take care of any negativity thrown your way. Its really only needed for extreme cases. But, in an extreme case, it works.

Having worked in a very competitive market with psychics and spell casters, I have definitely learned my psychic protection.  actually the person who inspired my love of psychic protection and defense what a Los Angles Soccer Mom. There was a  fender bender in a parking lot, which resulted in the woman screaming and yelling at whole bank full of people. During this, she gave me the evil eye. I had heard about it, but, never believedin it.  But, when this woman looked at me, I knew something was strange. Looking into her eyes, was the most blood chilling moment I can remember. It was like she was shooting evil out of her eyes. 36 hours later, I realized the streak of incredibly bad luck I was having was possibly connected to Soccer Mom’s menacing glare.

So, I went to the local New Age store, and got a book on ritual baths. Took one, and it cleared right up. I can’t say for sure that the two were connected, but that woman sure did leave and impression on me. If I knew she was coming around the corner, I would definitely go the other way, real quick.

Survival Skills for Empaths, part One

You feel what other people feel because you are an empath. When the feeling stays with you after you have parted company, or hang up the phone, it is because some of that person’s energy has attached to your aura.
 
This blog will focus on how to get another person’s energy off of your aura, so you are not feeling someone else’s emotions for an extended period of time.
5 Ways to do an Easy Aura Clean Up.
 
 
 A) Take a shower.
Its simple, and very effective.
Water is a great conductor of energy. You rinse the unwanted energy off of your aura in the shower. For the first few years on doing phone readings, I used to run to the shower after I had a very distessed caller. It works everytime!
B) Salt Bath.
I preffer the shower method, but, I know a few people who claim a salt bath is the best way to clear deeply and quickly.  Throw a handful of sea salt under hot water and add to your bath water.  Soak for 5 to 20 minutes. If you feel the vibration is stubborn, immease your whole face and head in the water for few seconds. Repeat 3 times.
C) Smudge.
 For smudging, I suggest White Mountain Sage, it is extremely effective in removing even the most toxic of energies.  Don’t forget to smudge your calves, ankles, and the bottoms of your feet. This is a very important area because this is  the place where your aura is usually the thinnest. It is also the area most often over looked. If you are an empath, take regular care of your feet!  This will “thicken” your aura in that area, and add extra protection. I know it sound silly, but, it has helped me very much! (if you unfamiliar with smudging, there is a wealth of information on the net)
D) Shower of Light with Raphael.
Stand with your feet firmly one the ground, and your hands hanging freely at your side. Assign the unwanted energy a color (Im going to use grey). Call upon Archangel Raphael, and his band of Angels to shower you in cleansing golden white light. Stand still for a few moments, and giving the Angels a chance to rain this light down upon you.  As this happens, visualize  the grey unwanted energy washing off of you, into the ground and into the center of mother earth. Here  it will be cleansed, and sent back to its original owner. Do this until there is no more grey in your aura. give the Angels your Thanks. You may also ask the Angels to seal your aura in a Golden bubble of  light for protection.
E) Om.
The vibration of the sound Om can be very effective in clearing the aura. If you can find a private quiet place, sit cross legged (Indian style) with your left foot over your right. (so you see your left foot, but the right is partially hidden. Take a few deep breaths, and let your mind relax. Say a prayer for protection. As you breath in, let your lungs fill completely. As you breath out make the sound “Om.” You do not need to reach any perfect state of mediation for this too work. Do try to focus on the sound “Om.”  Don’t be aftraid to let it get a little loud, that helps! After 2 minutes, your aura should be clear. It is the vibration of the sound which clears the aura. The sound Om also centers and calms the mind and spirit.  This is my chosen method between readings now.
F) Similarly, a the sounds from a Tibetian singing bowl can clear your aura. take some time to be still. Sit, or stand, next to your singing bowl (you can find these at new age shops, and on the net) allowing the sounds to wash over you.  Do not rush the process, you will know when your aura is clear. This is a very effective method used by two busy moms I know, both who happen to be empaths!

Survival Skills for Empaths…A Teaser

I will be writing a series on Survival Skills for Empaths (Everyone say thank-you Christine!) . This is going to be a great project for me. Being an Empath is actually really hard! Learning  a combination of easy steps to help you through the day, and the muck of everyone else’s emotions is well worth it.

For now, I will leave you with Donna Eden, and her “Zip Up” technique.  I do reccomend this technique for empaths. Its very effective, and a good place to start.  But, I alter it a bit. I do a “Zip down.” I decided to try it one day after I read that  the natural flow of energy is top to bottom, and  found it was more comfortable for  me.  Please let me know which one works best for you.

A Shaman’s Healing with Bear and Snake Spirit

Like everyone else, I have to deal with negative energy projected at me from other people. And, the negativity I myself, unintentionally create.
We all dislike it when someone else’s  negative energy is being projected at us. Yet, we rarely have a clear view of our role in any negative situation.
As humans, we are most susceptible to our own illusions, the ones we our selves have created.

I’m currently handling a situation, where an old (meaning ex) friend, is slinging mud. My ex friend, who will will call Samantha. The jabs she has been taking at me, are causing me some stress.

Not nice, I know, but the jabs are not what bothers me. What I really do not like, is that I have been responding to her jabs…emotionally. Hurt, anger, and sadness.

After smudging and praying like crazy, to no avail, I find I am still stressed and hurt. This tells me the negative emotions are coming from inside me, not outside me. It is not the energy Samantha is throwing at me that is causing these feelings. It is my own emotional response that is causing these feelings.

 And, I do not know how to stop them.
For help with this perplexing situation, I decide to take a Shaman’s journey, to see what my Animal guides had to say.

I go straight to bear. She is the one who comforts me, makes me feel safe and warm, I know she will help.
Bear has her back to me. It looks as if she is holding something in each arm, but, I cannot see what.

“Bear, Samantha is being mean to me, She is saying very combative things and trying to get me to fight with her. Its not fair, I tried to help her, but she snubbed me. Why is she so mean to me? Its not fair.”

As bear turns around, I see that she has two babies, one in each arm. One has my face, the other has Samantha’s. They are both crying in unison, “Im the victim! She was mean to me!”
Each one lifts a tiny baby finger to point at the other. “Why is she so mean to me?” They both wail.

“Now, what am I suppose to so with this?” Bear asks in amused tone.

I was definitely surprised by the image. At the same time, I understand right away. I am taking the role of the victim, and this is not the right approach.
I turn to leave. Snake is waiting for me.
I follow snake. We travel away from Bear’s cave into the tall grasses. Snake leads me into a hole in the ground, which turns into a tunnel. Down, down, down, we go.

We are literally under the ocean, buried under feet of dirt and earth and sand. The sand is packed so tight that I cannot move.  About five feet from me is a clay pot, that has been buried under the sea for 100 years.
We lay there packed in sand, Snake, the pot and I . The understanding washes over me that none of this will matter 100 years from now. (My guides are often reminding me that I take myself too seriously). I absorb the healing energy of the earth and sea.

Snake starts to travel up, I follow.
It is now dark out. Snake takes me back to dry land, to a clearing in the woods. We are alone with the starry night sky and a fire.

“Come dance with me.” Snake says.
We dance. “Transmute the energy between you and she.”

I dance on my own for a while, aware I am transmuting the energy in my body. Changing its flow, changing its direction. At the same time, I am aware I am changing my energy’s flow, my direction.

“When you leave here, what will you do?” Snake asks.

“I will turn it into a dance, and dance it for others, so they can learn the power of the Snake dance to transmute energy.  And over time, 100 years from now, I may be buried under the sea, but, above me someone will still be transmuting energy by dancing  Snake’s dance.”

And so the journey ends.
I am very grateful to Snake Spirit. Snake energy is one of my favorites. The lesson snake teaches us is to transmute. With snake for a teacher, you do not say “I have bled.”
You say: “I have bled, and I have healed. I am a survivor, these are may scars. I am a proud warrior, I have survived all these battles.”

The amazing thing is today, I am free of this negativity. Today, I took my lesson, and shared it with others. I transmuted it into something new…. these words.
